Let us remember well, however, that whenever food is thrown out it is as if it were stolen from the table of the poor, from the hungry!

Prayer: One Human Family with Food for All

December 10, 2013 – Pope Francis’ international campaign against hunger begins today.  The campaign is being organized by Caritas International and is titled “One Human Family, Food for All.”  Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Charities USA are the 2 U.S. organizations joining 162 other Caritas Internationalis partners in 200 countries participating in this worldwide effort.  Pope Francis has requested that all people of faith across the globe participate in today’s kickoff by joining in a global wave of prayer.  At noon local time, the wave will begin on the island of Samoa and will progress around the world until it reaches the same island some 24 hours and more than 164 countries later.  You can participate in today’s kickoff by praying the campaign prayer (English / Espanol) at noon local time.

This kickoff is a lead-up to a global week of action in October 2014 with different events and actions around the world urging national governments to adopt a right to food.
