“Blood in the Backyard” National Premiere at Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice 2014

WASHINGTON, DC – This year’s Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice will feature the national premiere of “Blood in the Backyard,” a documentary depicting the 1989 murders and subsequent legacy of the Jesuit martyrs and their companions in El Salvador.  The documentary is produced and directed by Loyola Productions, a Los Angeles-based, nonprofit creative media company that builds on the more than 450-year-old Jesuit tradition of effective involvement in the communication arts.  The documentary includes interviews with U.S. Representative Jim McGovern, former U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador William Walker, liberation theologian Jon Sobrino, S.J., and Chema Tojeira, S.J., Jesuit provincial in Central America at the time of the Salvadoran muders.  Over 1,300 individuals affiliated with Jesuit institutions and the larger Catholic Church will converge at the Teach-In, November 15-17 in Washington, D.C. to experience “Blood in the Backyard,” which will be shown at approximately at 9 PM on Saturday, November 15.
