Initial Release of “Blood in the Backyard” Premieres at Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice

WASHINGTON, DC – An initial release of Blood in the Backyard premiered at the Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice on November 15, 2014, the eve of the 25th anniversary of the Jesuit martyrs and their companions at the University of Central America in El Salvador.  The cut included footage of Jon Sobrino, S.J., Rep. Jim McGovern, former U.S. Ambassador William Walker, as well as participants in ISN’s July 2014 delegation to El Salvador.  Produced by Loyola Productions, the initial cut of Blood in the Backyard delves into how the martyrs’ sacrifice continues to affect El Salvador and the world today. Erik Lohr, the film’s director, was in Washington D.C. for the premiere to the crowd of 1,600+ from across the U.S., Canada, El Salvador, and Mexico.  Loyola Productions president Eddie Siebert, S.J., recently wrote about Blood in the Backyard in National Catholic Reporter in pieces titled The Sacrifice of Eight and Groundbreaking documentary on Salvadoran martyrs set to premiere at D.C. Teach-In.
