A Unique Way to Call for Divestment Fossil Fuels
BY GUEST BLOGGER | April 9, 2015
Students at Santa Clara University northern California have found a unique to make their call to the campus community for divestment from fossil fuels — a music video. The student group calls themselves Fossil Free SCU and is a coalition of the university’s GREEN Club and Bronco Leaders for Environmental Justice Investigating Truth.
Their efforts to bring attention to the fossil fuel divestment movement come as many Jesuit campuses are discerning how they might engage in such efforts. Recently administrators and faculty from six Midwestern Jesuit universities gathered at Loyola University Chicago for a conference on climate change sponsored by Loyola. Jim Hug, S.J., former president of the Center for Concern, offered daily reflections on the conversations at the conference which can be found here.
