Judge Grants Extradition of Salvadoran Colonel Accused in Jesuit Massacre

GREENVILLE, NC - Federal Magistrate Judge Kimberly Swank issued a decision today granting the extradition to Spain of Inocente Orlando Montano, El Salvador’s former Vice Minister of Public Security, to stand trial for his role in the 1989 massacre ofIgnacio Ellacuría, S.J., Ignacio Martín-Baró, S.J., Segundo Montes, S.J., Juan Ramón Moreno, S.J., Joaquín López y López, S.J., Amando López, S.J. and their housekeeper Elba Ramos, and her 15 year-old daughter Celina Ramos at the University of Central America in El Salvador.
