On Monday, September 14, 2020, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit ruled in favor of the Trump administration’s plan to revoke Temporary Protected Status for nearly 300,000 individuals from El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Sudan and Nepal, leaving these individuals susceptible to deportation.

U.S. Catholic Bishops Respond to Recent Supreme Court Decision on Public Charge

The U.S. Catholic bishops have issued a statement in response to the Jan. 27 Supreme Court decision allowing the Trump Administration to implement its expanded public charge rule, which allows the denial of legal status or changes in legal status for immigrants using public benefits such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicare, or Federal public housing assistance.
