Judge Grants Extradition of Salvadoran Colonel Accused in Jesuit Massacre

GREENVILLE, NC - Federal Magistrate Judge Kimberly Swank issued a decision today granting the extradition to Spain of Inocente Orlando Montano, El Salvador’s former Vice Minister of Public Security, to stand trial for his role in the 1989 massacre ofIgnacio Ellacuría, S.J., Ignacio Martín-Baró, S.J., Segundo Montes, S.J., Juan Ramón Moreno, S.J., Joaquín López y López, S.J., Amando López, S.J. and their housekeeper Elba Ramos, and her 15 year-old daughter Celina Ramos at the University of Central America in El Salvador.

Love: Remembering the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola

It’s that love that I remember this feast of St. Ignatius. Certainly God’s love made manifest in the form of Jesus is an integral part of Ignatius’ story. And after my trip to El Salvador a year ago, I now have a better understanding of that love because of the witness of Blessed Oscar Romero.
