Ignatian Family Mass for Life

2020-01-24 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am

ignatian-mass-for-life

The Ignatian Mass for Life will be celebrated prior to the March for Life in Washington, D.C., on Friday, January 24, 2020, at 9:30 AM, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (3513 N St NW, Washington, DC 20007) in the Georgetown neighborhood. The mass is taking place at Holy Trinity this year because St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church, its usual location, is under construction. Fr. Tim Kesicki, S.J., president of the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States, will be the main celebrant.

Members of the Ignatian family, including delegations from Jesuit colleges and universities, high schools, parishes, and other ISN member institutions are welcome to attend. However, space is limited and groups must RSVP here.

OPPORTUNITIES TO ASSIST WITH MASS

School and parish delegations are invited to offer support for the mass including serving as lectors, eucharistic ministers, altar servers, etc. We are also seeking a school/parish willing to lead the music for the liturgy. You can share your interests when you RSVP. Priests and deacons are asked to share if they plan to concelebrate the liturgy when RSVP’ing so that the sacristan can plan accordingly.

RESOURCES

In January 2018, the Jesuits re-issued, “Protecting the Least Among Us: A Statement of the Society of Jesus in the United States on Abortion” (English / Español) which asked Jesuits and their collaborators to continue to stand in solidarity with the unborn and with mothers in difficult situations.

HOW CAN MY GROUP GET TO / FROM HOLY TRINITY CHURCH?

Groups traveling by vehicle —

The Georgetown streets around Holy Trinity are narrower with very limited parking. Some street parking for smaller vehicles may be available. Larger bus or mini-buses may consider dropping off /picking up on Wisconsin Ave. or M St. to avoid the challenging streets.

Via Public Transportation —

The Georgetown neighborhood where Holy Trinity is located is marginally served by public transportation. There are numerous bus routes that run from Georgetown (via M Street or Wisconsin Ave.) toward the White House. Another option would be to walk to one of the two closest Metro stops which are both on the Blue/Orange/Silver Line. These stops are Rosslyn (1 mile~ 22 min) or Foggy Bottom Metro Station (1.4 miles ~ 27 minutes) and take the metro to Federal Triangle, Smithsonian, or Metro Center. Most routes will take between 40-45 minutes of walking/riding. You can find more information on DC Public Transportation here.
