Solidarity Across BordersLearn from members of the Kino Border Initiative (KBI) community on the U.S.-Mexico border about the realities of migration during the COVID-19 pandemic. Speakers will include a person currently migrating who will speak about the realities of living in limbo at the border while they await asylum proceedings that have been postponed indefinitely. Also sharing will be a recent migrant discussing life in the U.S. after having been recently released from a U.S. detention facility and the challenge of navigating life in the U.S. amid a pandemic. Additionally, we will be joined by Fr. Pete Neeley, S.J., reflecting on ways to strengthen solidarity and animate communities while sheltering-in-place in the U.S. Sister Cecilia López, M.E., will address how and why she provides humanitarian aid to vulnerable people at the KBI’s comedor.
