SPEAKER BIOs:

Greg Mellor: Greg was born and raised in the Pennsylvania suburbs north of Philadelphia. Prior to his arrival to Cincinnati, Greg lived in Baltimore, Sacramento, Chicago, Albuquerque, and Syracuse. He completed a B.A. in Philosophy and minor in Theology from Loyola University Maryland in 2004 and an M.A. in Spirituality from Loyola University Chicago in 2009. Along the way, Greg served one year in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC) and two years in the JVC Magis program through Loyola University Chicago. His work and ministerial experience include serving as a prison chaplain, high school religion teacher, high school campus minister, college campus minister, and spiritual director. As Assistant Director for Faith and Ministry, Greg’s work focus is with retreats, Companion Groups, and Xavier Student Sustainability.
Jose Paris: Jose is a graduate of Theology and Philosophy from the Jesuit College Spring Hill and loves to write, play outside, and shred on his ukulele. He has been a part of youth ministry since high school and has even held a directorship position in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. He is an avid learner, attentive listener, but mostly a chill guy. When he is not reading a good book, or cooking a delicious meal, you’ll find him kicking back with friends. Jose is an Ignite Intern at the Jesuit Spiritual Center in Milford OH. Members of the Ignite Internship live in community on the grounds of the Center for the year in our historic Rock House, as they work as members of the Youth Ministry team. Ignite Interns learn to facilitate a variety of interactive experiential learning exercises with groups of students ranging in size from 10 to 600. Ignite Interns commit to living together in an intentional faith-based community, which provides opportunities not only for social engagement but also faith formation and discernment. Interns make several personal and team retreats throughout the year, and have opportunities to receive spiritual direction. Ignite interns commit to living our three core principals: solidarity, spirituality, and stewardship.
