SPEAKER BIOS:
Hassan is the director of the Islamic Center of San Diego, where he has served as imam since 2004. As a faith leader, he has joined forces with Catholic, Jewish, and Protestant leaders and nonreligious organizations to address issues such as immigration, homelessness, racial injustice and worker wages.
Sister Kathy Warren is a member of Franciscan Sisters of Rochester, Minnesota. She moved to San Diego just a year ago to assume the ministry of Director of the Office for Women Religious with the Diocese of San Diego. Since 2000, Sr. Kathy has been a retreat and conference presenter on themes related to Muslim-Christian interaction from a Franciscan perspective. She is the author of “Daring to Cross the Threshold: Francis of Assisi Encounters Sultan Malek al-Kamil.” She has also been involved in the production of two films about Francis and the Sultan: one from a Franciscan publishing house, the other from a Muslim publishing house. She looks forward to sharing the story of Francis and Sultan as the springboard for the timely conversation regarding Muslim-Christian interaction in our lives and our world.
