The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia is a Congregation of

Appointed by the General Council, and reporting to the Director of Sponsorship, the Sponsorship Coordinator provides leadership in promoting, strengthening, and integrating the Mission, Values, and Principles for Sponsorship within the sponsored ministries of the Sisters of Saint Joseph. In collaboration with and under the direction of the Director, the Coordinator holds responsibility for oversight of the ministries which the Congregation sponsors with particular attention to the civil issues related to governance, leadership, quality, and sustainability.

Essential Functions:

Communications and Administration:

●      Serves as a member of the Office of Sponsorship

●      Collaborates with the other members within the Office to ensure that the mission and charism of the Congregation, as well as its Chapter Directives, are embodied in the sponsored ministries of the Sisters of Saint Joseph

●      Collaborates with Congregational offices/groups such as the Associates and the Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation Office to create experiences and materials to deepen an understanding of mission

●      Assists in communications engagement initiatives of the Office of Sponsorship

●      Promotes and facilitates opportunities for members of the Congregation to serve and actively participate in Sponsored Ministries to elevate mission effectiveness

●      Serves as co-editor of the Sponsorship Manual

●      Maintains the Sponsorship office communications portal

●      Participates in professional development opportunities and networking to reflect best practice in mission integration.

●      Acts as a resource to ministries as needed for budgeting and strategic planning

Boards & Governance:

●      In collaboration with the Sponsorship Coordinator creates and executes annual board orientation

●      Serves as an ex-officio member of the board of the SSJ Charitable Outreach Ministries (The SSJ Welcome Center, The SSJ Neighborhood Center, The SSJ Newcomer Housing Alliance) and represent the Sponsorship Office on additional boards as needed

●      Encourages and supports Boards and Executive Leaders in the development of succession planning, as needed,  to ensure continuing stability of the sponsored ministry

Mission Effectiveness

●      Collaborates with the Mission Integration Coordinator to design and implement a core formation process for Executive Leaders. Ensures that each sponsored ministry conducts annual review of the Executive Leader’s service to the Board.

●      Collaborates with colleagues in the Office of Sponsorship on planning and execution of fall and spring Sponsored Ministry Leadership Gatherings to promote collaboration and fellowship.

●      Assists in the search process for new Executive Leaders for sponsored ministries

●      Fosters and monitors the implementation of the “General Principles for Sponsorship” and shares recommendations with sponsored ministries, Boards, and the General Council

●      Acts as a resource to ministries as needed for budgeting and strategic planning

●      Collaborates with the Mission Integration Coordinator in the development of processes for monitoring mission effectiveness and mission integration for sponsored ministries

Education:
Master’s Degree preferred.

Qualifications:

●      Experience working in an SSJ Sponsored Ministry preferred

●      Experience in nonprofit administration desirable

●      Strong organizational skills

●      Attention to detail

●      Strong communication skills

●      Ability to lead a team

●      Cross cultural sensitivity

●      Strong problem-solving skills

●      Ability to understand abstract concepts

●      Ability to delegate
