Assistant Director of Retreats
Loyola University Chicago has a long standing history of students making a retreat. Ignatian spirituality is the foundation of Loyola’s retreat program.
The Assistant Director of Retreats serves as an assistant director on the department of campus ministry’s leadership team. This position has supervisor and budgetary responsibilities. The assistant director shapes the departments strategic planning.
Overseeing the retreat program, the Assistant Director shapes the retreat program so that students have deep and transformational experiences of God and community utilizing Ignatian Spirituality. The AD recruits a talented and diverse pool of student and staff leaders to serve on retreat teams, schedules all retreats and formation meetings, and recruits a diverse group of retreatants.
This position reports to the Director of Campus Ministry.
This position requires a flexible work schedule that includes some evening work and some weekends.
Candidates possessing an M.Div. or M.A. in theology or related field, plus five years of pastoral ministry experience are encouraged to apply. Other qualifications include knowledge of young adult faith development, ability to articulate Loyola’s Jesuit, Catholic mission, and proven ability to work with students, staff and faculty from diverse faith and cultural backgrounds. Previous experience coordinating retreats utilizing Ignatian spirituality is highly desired.
