Live-In Case Manager, Oakland Catholic Worker
The Oakland Catholic Worker invites you to join with us in service, advocacy, community and solidarity by serving as a live-in case manager with homeless, undocumented immigrants and their children who have fled extreme violence, oppression and poverty in Mexico and Central and South America.
Located in Oakland in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area’s immigrant and refugee community, the Oakland Catholic Worker provides transitional shelter and comprehensive support services to empower our immigrant families on their path to self-sufficiency. As a case manager you will help to support them with referrals to social service/legal assistance, medical/psychological help, education, basic literacy/ESL, women’s leadership groups, and job training and placement. Staff and guests also advocate together for justice for the immigrant community.
Rooted in both the mission of Dorothy Day and the spirit of the Ignatian Salvadoran martyrs, the Oakland Catholic Worker is more than a “job” or a social service organization. Staff live side by side with our immigrant families, sharing their humanity, different cultures and spiritualities. Our daily life together challenges, changes and transforms us as we create community together and discover how much we belong to each other.
The Oakland Catholic Worker invites you to be a partner with us in our mission of service and justice with immigrant families. Those with Spanish language proficiency are highly encouraged to apply. Terms and types of service are flexible, though longer term commitments are encouraged.
Staff will receive a $2,000 monthly stipend. Free housing, food and living supplies are also provided.
