Xavier University, a Catholic institution in the Jesuit tradition, invites applications for the position of Senior Director of the Center for Faith and Justice. The Center for Faith and Justice supports and challenges students as they deepen their faith lives, pursue justice and promote pluralism. Inspired by Ignatian spirituality and Catholic Social Teaching, the Center is built on the invitation to find God in all things and the principles of solidarity and the common good.  Through faith formation, community building and education for social change, the Center for Faith and Justice equips students to live in—and contribute to—a world that is increasingly complex, interdependent and diverse. The Center pursues its mission by facilitating, amongst other initiatives, retreats, immersion learning, Roman Catholic, Muslim, Jewish and Protestant religious services, interfaith dialogue and social justice education.

The Senior Director is responsible for the oversight and direction of the Dorothy Day Center for Faith and Justice. Responsibilities include: managing a diverse and talented staff of twelve full-time employees, guiding strategic planning and evaluation, facilitating University-wide collaboration and aligning resources to University, Divisional and Departmental mission, goals and strategies. The Senior Director also manages and develops relationships across the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities and with local religious organizations and leaders. The Senior Director reports to Xavier’s Chief Student Affairs Officer, serves as a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team and represents the center and division across the University and in the broader Cincinnati community.

The ideal candidate will be a team builder, collaborative and a strong administrator. Candidates must have 5-10 years’ experience working with higher education constituents, a passion for student formation, and a commitment to the University’s mission, vision and values. We seek a leader who is Catholic, familiar with our Jesuit tradition, and who brings significant experience leading initiatives that promote inclusion, diversity and pluralism.

A Master’s degree is required in the field of Theology, Divinity, Peace Studies, Higher Education Administration or a related field. We seek someone with a strong background in Roman Catholic social thought and contemporary movements and issues in the Catholic Church, in addition to a strong understanding of student development theory.
