Creighton University, Gonzaga University and Gonzaga Preparatory School announced today that both their institutions will “Saint Francis Pledge” to Care for Creation and the Poor, led by the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change, making the schools partners in the national movement for faithful action on climate change.

Twenty-eight student leaders from Jesuit universities and parishes across the country converged for the Ignatian Solidarity Network’s 3nd annual University Leaders Summit from July 28-31, 2013.

The Ignatian Solidarity Network (ISN) has joined a diverse group of national faith-based organizations in calling on Congress to raise the minimum wage.

The Ignatian Solidarity is excited to announce the main stage lineup for the 2013 Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice! This year’s line-up will bring light to this year’s Teach-In theme, “Illuminating the Horizon of Hope” and offer global and local perspectives to faith and justice issues.

The Ignatian Solidarity Network honored Sr. Helen Prejean, C.S.J., with the “Robert M. Holstein: Faith that Does Justice Award” on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at an award reception in New Orleans, Louisiana. Sr. Prejean is an internationally-recognized advocate against the death penalty whose passion is rooted in experiences of ministering to death row inmates. She has spoken around the globe and authored two books including Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty, which held a spot on the New York Times Bestseller List for thirty-one weeks in 1994.

The Ignatian Solidarity Network (ISN) announced today that it will endorse the “Saint Francis Pledge” to Care for Creation and the Poor, led by the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change. ISN is one of several national organizations that have joined the effort to respond to an environmental call to action from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

The Ignatian Solidarity Network Board of Directors has unanimously voted to welcome Fred Kammer, S.J., Brent Otto, S.J., and Scott Powers, as directors.

The Cardinal Bernardin New Leadership Award, an activity of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, recognizes the leadership, energy and diverse skills that young people bring to the anti-poverty work of low-income projects and Catholic parishes.

Ignatian Family Advocacy Month (IFAM), a national advocacy effort of the Ignatian Solidarity Network inspired hundreds of advocates from Jesuit universities, high schools, and parishes to engage in legislative advocacy on three priority issues: sustainable environmental practices, humane comprehensive immigration reform, and protecting those impacted by economic poverty in the U.S.

Fifty-five Jesuit university students from Farfield University, Loyola Marymount University, Loyola University Chicago, Loyola University Maryland, Saint Peter’s University, Santa Clara University, and University of Detroit Mercy, converged on Capitol Hill on to participate in legislative advocacy meetings calling for humane comprehensive immigration reform.

The U.S. Jesuit Conference, Jesuit Refugee Service USA, and Kino Border Initiative have released a study that sheds light on the mistreatment of migrants crossing the U.S. Mexico Border.

2013 Arrupe Leaders Summit - West Coast

Fifty-five student leaders and faculty mentors from Catholic high schools across the country converged on Los Gatos, California, for the Ignatian Solidarity Network’s Arrupe Leaders Summit from January 18-20, 2013. The Arrupe Leadership Summit invited emerging student leaders for social justice to spend a weekend strengthening their capacity to effect positive social change while deepening their understanding of the relationship between faith and justice emphasized in the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
