This presentation can serve as a template for a presentation to discern a social justice advocacy issue. It starts by rooting the conversation in our Catholic and Jesuit Identity, shares what the parish had done so far and then presents possible advocacy focuses with the question, “how can we best move forward from here?”
When St. Ignatius started to get involved more with advocacy on an ecojustice area, we shared the possibilities with parishioners and asked for their input on an issue to focus on. To help them make an informed decision, this discernment guide was offered with background on the topics, connections to Catholic Social Teaching and examples of how people could get involved. While this guide is Portland, OR specific, could be used as a template.
