Driven by gang warfare, government corruption, and poverty, the violence in this comparatively small region exceeded the death tolls in several combined war\u00a0zones from around the world in 2015.<\/p>\n The violence has also caused thousands of migrants to flee their homes in search of safety and freedom abroad, perilous journeys that\u00a0in many cases\u00a0lead to imprisonment, kidnapping, extortion, or even death. In February,\u00a0Ignatian Solidarity Network will hold a nationwide month of advocacy<\/a>, calling on our\u00a0lawmakers to pass\u00a0humane migration policy.
