The Jesuit Martyrs of El Salvador: Honoring Their Witness
This year’s theme, “Uprooting Injustice. Sowing Truth. Witnessing Transformation,” stems from a quote from Ignacio Ellacuria, S.J., Jesuit martyrs and former president of the University of Central America in San Salvador.
The Prayer for the Jesuit Martyrs is an annual tradition of the Teach-In where participants are invited to remember and honor Jesuits who have lost their lives while working for peace and justice
Keynote addresses from Michael Lee, PhD, Ismael Moreno Corto, S.J., and Marie Dennis will touch upon the witness of the Jesuit martyrs and how they have inspired continued work for peace and justice
The opening prayer and breaking open the theme will focus on El Salvador and the work and inspiration of the Jesuit martyrs of El Salvador
The closing Mass will be celebrated by Kevin Burke, S.J., author of Love That Produces Hope: The Thought of Ignacio Ellacuria
