Day 43: Eyes Fixed Ahead
These migrants had to fix their eyes ahead, on the destination, to journey through the suffering yet to come. They had to remind themselves of the love of their family that motivated them to set out in the first place.
Joanna Williams has served at the Kino Border Initiative (KBI) since 2015. She was named the executive director in March of 2021 and before that worked as the director of education and advocacy for six years. She graduated with a B.S. from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and received a Master's in Public Policy from Arizona State University.

We hear of Jesus’ crucifixion so often that we are tempted to think there was unshakable unanimity amongst the leaders of Jesus’ day that he was a threat to the power structure and must be arrested. Yet today’s readings remind us that there were dissenting voices.
