A Regional Gathering for Secondary Educators to Network, Learn, and Experience Renewal
Calling all Secondary Ecological Educators in the Greater Midwest Region:
Are you passionate about ecological issues and working at a secondary school in the Greater Midwest Region? Join our inaugural Ignatian Ecological Educator Summit.
Take part in three days of:
- networking: share goals, challenges, successes, and best practices;
- strategic thinking: on how to garner support from admin at your school;
- praying: experience the gifts of ecological spirituality through an Ignatian lens in a beautiful setting;
- coalition-building: explore what collaborative action between secondary schools in the “Greater Midwest” could look like.
The Summit will feature peer-led presentations with practical applications; a core team of secondary educators on the planning team ensures the content will meet your needs.
All attendees, speakers, and facilitators must provide proof of COVID vaccination to ISN prior to arriving at the summit.
About Bellweather Farm
The gathering has been intentionally set at Bellwether Farm, an Episcopal camp, retreat, and education center that offers a model of sustainable living that promotes physical and spiritual wellness, fidelity to the environment, and social justice. This sacred space, bordered on three sides by the Vermilion River with 137 acres that include farmland, woodlands, meadows, hiking trails, and playing fields, will be a place to help us expand our imaginations for what is possible on our campuses. This setting will also allow us to experience eco-spirituality and renewal in nature. In addition, the campus exemplifies green building and features super energy-efficient structures, renewable energy technology, water reclamation systems, and repurposed materials.

Who should attend the Summit?
Any faculty or staff member working at a secondary school who is passionate about ecological justice and sustainability. You do not need to be a classroom teacher to attend the summit, and we hope to have a rich diversity of departments represented at the gathering. We are focusing this summit on schools in the “Greater Midwest Region” from CO to NY in an attempt to limit carbon emissions and to encourage bioregional collaboration.
