JUSTICE IS THE CHAMPION
March 11 – April 14
We’re getting in on the spirit of “that other madness event that happens in March” with a friendly competition where justice is the champion.
From March 11-April 14, join the Ignatian network in taking 5,000 actions for more just migration and environmental policies. There will be scoreboards, there will be prizes, and most of all, there will be opportunities to use our collective power to stand up for justice.
How It Works
The Competition: We will be engaging in a friendly competition amongst the Jesuit provinces (4 regions of the United States encompassing the West, Central Southern, East, and Midwest) for total points in their region, as well as celebrating the top-scoring high school, college, and parish.
The Prize: The top-scoring high school, college, and parish will each receive $100 to the ISN store to bring some new justice swag to your community AND bragging rights.
STEP 1: Register Your “Team”
Jesuit and other Catholic high schools, colleges, and parishes are invited to play. Your institution = your team.
STEP 2: Form Your Gameplan
Over the course of March-April, we are encouraging institutions to engage in learning, prayer, and in particular, action for more just migration and environmental policies. Each activity below is worth varying levels of points. Activities qualify for points every time they’re completed. You will also receive points for every advocacy action taken.
- Legislative meetings = 50 points/meeting
- Phone/letter drives = 20 points/drive
- Total actions = 1 point per person taking action
- Prayer events = 10 points/event
- Educational events = 10 points/event
For example, an institution that hosts one educational event (10 points), two prayer services (20 points), and five legislative meetings, including 30 people (250 points + 30 total action points), would score 310 points.
You may submit your scoring form as many times as you’d like; we will track your cumulative score.
STEP 3: Prepare
We have included resources below to help you book and prepare for legislative advocacy meetings and plan phone/letter drives, as well as a suggested prayer service and educational event ideas.
STEP 4: Game On
Throughout the competition, ISN will provide updates on teams’ and provinces’ scores and will celebrate our collective work for justice. In Ignatian Advocacy Madness, justice is the ultimate champion.
