“We Say Welcome”: Jesuit Migration Network to Hold Event Denouncing Title 42

On Tuesday, March 21st, the Jesuit Migration Network and people seeking asylum in Nogales will hold “We Say Welcome,” a press conference and binational solidarity event to mark three years of the U.S. government using Title 42 to restrict asylum under the pretext of COVID restrictions.

In partnership with the family of Moira Erin O’Donnell, the Ignatian Solidarity Network announces the 2022 recipients of the Moira Erin O’Donnell Emerging Leaders for Justice Award: Michael Libunao-Macalintal, M.Div. (Fordham University ‘15) and Teresa Marie Cariño Petersen, MTS (University of San Francisco ‘13). 

In January, educators and ministers from across the Jesuit network gathered for the first Ignatian Spirituality and Antiracism Gathering.

The Ignatian Solidarity Network is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2023 Robert M. Holstein Faith Doing Justice Award—Ellie Hidalgo and Jack Raslowsky.

A federal judge ruled against asylum-blocking Title 42, the policy being unjustly used to turn away asylum seekers at the U.S.-Mexico border, deeming it a violation of U.S. asylum law with no basis in public health.

For twenty five years, the Ignatian family has been inspired to act for justice by the Jesuit martyrs and their companions. This year, ISN commissioned a Salvadoran cross to symbolize their legacy at the 25th Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice.

From October 22-24, 2022 in Washington, D.C., more than 2,000 individuals gathered for the Ignatian Solidarity Network’s 25th annual Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice.

In September of 2022, Jesuit Refugee Service/USA, in partnership with ISN and Kino Border Initiative, announced the launch of the Migrant Accompaniment Network, a nationwide group of volunteers who will engage those who have recently arrived in the U.S. with their integration into welcoming communities.

Through an immersion trip and a new ethically-made t-shirt in the campus bookstore, John Carroll University is promoting ethical purchasing on campus.

From July 26-29, 2022, more than forty students gathered to build a vision and skills as organizers at the 2022 Ignatian Justice Summit.

ISN continues to call on Congress to provide a permanent legislative solution that provides DACA recipients with protection from deportation and a path to citizenship.

The Ignatian Solidarity Network welcomed three new staff members—Grace Adams, serving as Catholic Ethical Purchasing Alliance coordinator, Clarissa Aljentera, serving as director of Education for Justice, and Jorge Palacios, serving as migration coordinator for youth engagement.

The University of Dayton, long committed to ethical sourcing, has deepened this commitment through partnership with ISN’s Catholic Ethical Purchasing Alliance—putting the school’s Catholic mission further into action on campus.
